This Mother's Day Help Us Help

This year, more so than in well over a decade, we face several hurdles in keeping our critically important Mother's Fund alive and well. The impending recession and the "State of the State" in New Jersey have increased the volume and need of our clients. This is all the more reason for you to send what you can to help send a child on a class trip, buy flowers for a high school graduate or maybe even pay for a trip to the movies. Sometimes we lose sight of how important these ordinary expenditures are to our children. We take them for granted, and likely, so do our own children. But for HomeFront mothers and their children, these expenditures are huge and are NEVER taken for granted.

For your tax-deductible donation, HomeFront will send a beautiful card to your mother, or any other person you designate. To be a part of this special HomeFront tradition, complete and the return the contribution form to HomeFront by April 28.

Drive of the month

Pots, Pans and Cookware
A big part of what units a family and makes a home home is sharing a home-cooked meal. As we help our client families settle into a place of their own, we try to provide them the tools that foster the unity of family. As we all know from our own homes, the kitchen is a great place to catch up with what the children did in school and to share experiences while preparing supper. HomeFront strives to make sure each family has the basic kitchen “tools” to make their kitchen functional and welcoming. Please help us help us help our families.

Drop off any gently used kitchen items at 1880 Princeton Avenue in Lawrenceville. Thank you!

Literacy Initiative Gets Boost

photophotoBristol-Myers Squibb awarded HomeFront $35,000 of crucial seed money to kick off a pilot literacy initiative. HomeFront's literacy initiative focuses on the fact that every mom wants to be able to read to her child. The grant will enable us to combine efforts to improve mom's literacy with our getting our children ready to learn.

Magnets With Numbers Help Families

Girl Scout Troop 1577--Girl Scouts of Delaware-Raritan, West Windsor-Plainsboro Service Unit, lead by Anne Stevens, created refrigerator magnets for all of HomeFront's low-income permanent housing residents. To make emergency information easily accessible for our moms, important numbers to call are listed on one side of the magnets. On the opposite side are all the things to do to prepare for an emergency situation. The troop donated time and expenses.

Novo Nordisk Golf Outing Raises Funds for Bicycles

HomeFront children are the beneficiaries of money raised from a Novo Nordisk golf outing. Facilities Administrator Ken Jewell, with help from Shauna McWoods, raised $10,000 that went toward the purchase of 100 bikes and helmets from Wal-Mart. Ken is pictured with our executive director Connie Mercer.
