HomeFront guided me through a troubled time in my life, if it were not for them I might not be where I am today.

HomeFront impacted my life immensely. When I was there I was a very young single mother of two, with no direction and no plan. I knew that I wanted to find a home for my children and me, but I had no means to do so on my own.

HomeFront truly aided in my gaining some sort of self-sufficiency. It triggered the start of making a better life for my children and me.

The counselors at HomeFront were so friendly and welcoming that I always felt comfortable speaking with them about anything. Another aspect of HomeFront that helped me emotionally was ArtSpace. ArtSpace was a place where I could go to let out all of my stress and troubles on a canvas. It was always open and inviting and it helped me reconnect with my creative side.

Currently I am more in touch with my creative side than I have ever been before. I am a Junior in college. I am a part of the Women With Children Program (WWC) at Misericordia University and my children finally have a strong sense of home and safety.

I am pursuing a degree in English/Creative Writing as well as a certification in addictions counseling. HomeFront guided me through a troubled time in my life, if it were not for them I might not be where I am today and, for that, I am forever thankful.

Sometimes we look back, even if for no other reason to realize how far we have come. That’s the journey of life. That was my journey, and I’m still on it.

When I initially came to Homefront nearly four years ago now, I had been recently evicted from my apartment. At the time, I had a brand new baby and a three year old daughter as well. Even though many years have passed since then, I can remember the guilt and desperation felt when I could no longer provide a home for my children. HomeFront showed me how to pick myself up and be a better mother for my children. The people there helped me realize that I was still a good mother and that despite that situation in my life—it was not my end. And they were right.

I was afraid. But by taking advantage of the services that were made available, by understanding that needing help didn’t make me less of a person, I began to realize my own worth. I had many ups and for me, twice as many downs.

I took the experience at HomeFront and the things I learned and I gradually incorporated those into my life. It has not been easy. There are struggles in all things that we do. However, we keep moving forward—and sometimes we look back, even if for no other reason to realize how far we have come. That’s the journey of Life. That was my journey, and I’m still on it.

There are so many things I want out of life but above all else I want to be successful, but I don’t know if I am on the right path. I question if I’m at the right school or if I’m in the right field and will I make it to the next step.

I am currently enrolled as a full time student at Rowan University. I am a Psychology major with a law and justice minor and a specialization in applied behavior analysis. Throughout this entire process, Homefront has provided me with the tools I needed to become a successful student.
