Service Learning
HomeFront is committed to the educational component of volunteering. We encourage students to be aware of and understand the causes of homelessness, and what can be done to alleviate the housing crisis in Mercer County.
If you are interested in involving your students in a project for HomeFront please contact us at getinvolved@homefrontnj.org , and attend one of our Wednesday evening volunteer orientation meetings.

Girl Scout Project Aids the Homeless
Girl Scout Troop 1577 of Delaware-Raritan, West Windsor-Plainsboro Service Unit, lead by Anne Stevens, created refrigerator magnets for HomeFront's low-income permanent housing residents. To make emergency information easily accessible for our moms, important numbers to call are listed on one side of the magnets. On the opposite side are all the things to do to prepare for an emergency situation. The troop donated time and expenses.
5th Graders Cook Up Goodwill
More than 40 5th graders from Sybil Holland's Princeton Day School classes took advantage of warm weather, hungry kids and open hearts when they visited the Family Preservation Center in May, loaded with picnic essentials and desserts. The PDS students and HomeFront kids had a great time mixing and mingling, playing games and eating burgers and franks hot off the grill while moms watched the fun.
