Starting on Mother’s Day, Sunday May 13, HomeFront is launching a month-long Diaper Challenge aimed at raising 100,000 diapers and baby wipes.  This effort will culminate in the opening of HomeFront’s Diaper Resource Center, a new program to support families experiencing diaper need in Mercer County.

The National Diaper Bank Network estimates that 1 in 3 American families report experiencing diaper need.  Disposable diapers cost at least $70 to $80 per month per baby, but no state or federal child safety-net program allocates dollars for the purchase of diapers and they cannot be obtained with food stamps.  Without diapers, babies cannot participate in early childhood education programs and without child care, parents cannot go to work.

HomeFront will be collecting diapers of all sizes, wipes, and monetary donations for the Diaper Challenge at their main office, 1880 Princeton Ave, Lawrenceville, from 9am-5pm Monday through Friday and 9am-12pm Saturdays.  The agency welcomes and encourages individuals, businesses, community and church groups to participate in the drive.  Click here to donate on-line.

For the Diaper Challenge you can also make a difference by visiting HomeFront’s Diaper Challenge Wish List to purchase diapers that will ship directly to our Warehouse.  Don’t forget to sign into Amazon Smile and select HomeFront as your charity of choice; we’ll receive an additional 0.5% of every dollar spent!  Click here for HomeFront’s Amazon Wishlist
