MLK Virtual Day of Service—January 19th, 2026

You can honor the life and legacy of Dr. King by doing virtual service activities from your home or workplace! Through this year's activities, you'll help families facing hardship or homelessness have the essentials they need.

Monday, January 19, 2026

Contact DylanC@homefrontnj.org or (609) 477-2370 for questions.

➡️“Everyone Counts” Service Opportunity
Purchase items such as individual-sized toothpaste, shampoo, deodorant, and soaps; toothbrushes, socks, gloves/hats/scarves, hand warmers, etc. and make small kits in ziploc bags. We will distribute these care packs during NJ’s Annual Point in Time Count, which helps ensure that every person experiencing homelessness counts. This important national event helps shape policy decisions and will take place during the last week of January 2026.

➡️Make a House a Home: Host a Drive for Moving Supplies
Help us provide our clients with much needed items for moving to their new, and in many cases, first homes. We are in constant need of new and gently used comforter sets with sheets (twin, full, queen), towel sets, shower curtains with liners and rings, pots and pans sets, utensil and dish sets, Swiffer wet dry mops, mops and buckets, and brooms with dust pans. We can also use unopened cleaning supplies: dish soap, sponges, microfiber towels, all-purpose cleaner, toilet bowl brush and cleaner, cleaning gloves, and paper towels. It may be convenient for you (and works really well for us!) to purchase donations from our Amazon Wishlist.

➡️We ask that you drop off completed kits and donations by January 24th. Please note that our Donation Center and offices are closed on MLK Day, Monday, 1/19, since this is a virtual service day, but we're so eager to receive your donations when we reopen! During the week of MLK Day, our Donation Center will be open Tuesday-Friday from 9am-3pm and Saturday 9am-12pm.

Thank you for making sure neighbors in our community feel cared for and prepared.

Watch for more upcoming activities during our annual Week of Hope, February 9-14!

“Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, ‘What are you doing for others?’”
— MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR.

*Please note that these are virtual service opportunities that you can do from your home or office; there is no in-person volunteering on MLK Day, Monday, January 19th. HomeFront's Donation Center and offices are closed on MLK Day, but we can't wait to see what you've generously created once we reopen on Tuesday, January 20th!
