Why camp? Camp Mercer, our eight-week day camp, serves children aged 5-15 who are experiencing housing instability. Mornings are devoted to academics and the afternoons are devoted to fun and relaxation. We can't forget about weekly field trips! Sadly, government funding for children’s programming and summer camps is limited, and so we must rely on the generosity of our supporters to continue this vital work. Together, we can help provide a safe, nurturing environment for children to learn, build confidence, and make lasting friendships.
What is housing instability? "Housing instability encompasses a number of challenges, such as having trouble paying rent, overcrowding, moving frequently, or spending the bulk of household income on housing." (Source: U.S. Department of Health and Human Services) For children and families experiencing housing instability, summer can be a challenging time: lack of childcare, food insecurity, and more. Thank you for making a difference this summer.
