When Stephanie Land moved out of her abusive boyfriend’s house at age 29, she was a single mother, unemployed, with no savings. So she did what she had to in order to keep herself and her daughter alive. She moved into a homeless shelter and then into subsidized housing, enrolled in every government program she could, and got a job as a maid. It was all only barely enough to keep her going.
She eventually drew on the grueling experience of cleaning houses to write an online essay that went viral — receiving over 1.3 million page views — and later turned into her memoir, Maid: Hard Work, Low Pay, and a Mother’s Will to Survive, which went on to become a New York Times bestseller and an acclaimed Netflix series.

Parking
There is a large parking lot as you turn into Forrestal Village and you will see HomeFront volunteers directing traffic.

Health and Safety Notice
COVID-19 cases have increased in our community and across the state. There will be an option to live stream the program if that works better for you. The program will begin at 7:00 PM and the link will be sent to all attendees the morning of June 1. Anyone who is ill, experiencing a fever, or has recently been in close contact with someone diagnosed with COVID, may not attend. Masks are encouraged and will be required in some areas.

If you have purchased multiple tickets or a table and have not submitted attendee names, please email homefront@homefrontnj.org to confirm names of attendees.
