Lawrence Community Center
The Lawrence Community Center at 295 Eggerts Crossing Road is managed by HomeFront as both a community center for the township and a site for HomeFront support programs.
Currently the Center provides a safe, welcoming place where Lawrence Township residents and HomeFront guests can gather and participate in cultural, educational and recreational programs.
It also serves as the venue for a host of programs and, during July and August, it is home base for Camp Mercer, a day camp for ages 5-14.
Social services at Lawrence Community Center include a food pantry, referrals for clothing, determination of eligibility for groceries and clothing/household goods, assistance with obtaining health insurance, back rent and utility payments.
A true community center, it hosts recreational programs such as Zumba, children’s art classes, tai chi, Cub Scout and Girl Scout meetings, jewelry-making classes, an after-school program, and basketball and indoor soccer leagues. We add programs as we determine what residents would like to have at their community center.
The Center also offers a community-accessible, state-of-the-art computer room to provide Lawrence residents and HomeFront clients with Internet access; and a variety of computer-based learning programs, word-processing and other frequently used applications.
With the help and generosity of Educational Testing Service and its employees, the Center is an educational hub for Lawrence residents and HomeFront clients. It is a place to learn English, update resumes, practice for job interviews and learn new skills; to share what you know with others and to learn from them; to meet new people; and to have fun with neighbors in a safe, accessible, attractive and welcoming environment.
